Bitcoin edges lower but remains above $70,000 after reaching a one-month high Wednesday. Wednesday's gains followed a brief improvement in market sentiment after more encouraging reports on the Middle East conflict. President Trump also backed crypto firms in their battle with U.S. banks over whether they can offer interest-like returns on stablecoins. "There have been strong flows into U.S. bitcoin exchange-traded funds so far this month, which is evidence of renewed investor interest," Trade Nation's David Morrison says in a note. However, traders remain cautious given continuing geopolitical risks and broader volatility, he says. The big test for bitcoin is to remain above $70,000, he says. Bitcoin falls 0.6% to $72,892 after hitting a high of $74,049 Wednesday, LSEG data show. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
